JSTC Music Resources

Extra-Curricular Music

At JSTC we are fortunate to have a thriving and ever-growing extra-curricular offering for our students in Music. There are four different clubs, opportunities to learn instruments, attend trips and more!

Music Club

Music club is a fantastic opportunity for students to come and try their hand at different instruments. Each term Miss Novell groups teaches a different instrument, such as, Ukulele, Boomwhackers, Djembe etc.
In addition to this, students may come and practise work set by their instrument teachers or just hang out and listen to the music!

Young Voices

Between September and February we run weekly rehearsals for those going on the Young Voices trip. See Miss Novell for more info on this.

Samba Club

Samba club runs in throughout the summer term! Thanks to the Alford Rotary Club we have a full set of Samba instruments for our students to learn. During the summer we learn pieces and perform them for concerts, sports day, Alford Arts Festival and other outside school events.

Music Clinic

Run for year 11 GCSE students. This is an optional additional revision and/or practise session each week to support your studies.

Every year we provide a range of opportunities for students to perform. These include:

The Christmas Show
Our annual Christmas extravaganza!

Spenny's Got Talent
Our bi-annual talent show for music and dance!

The School Musical

Put on bi-annually by the Expressive Arts department.
The 2023/24 show will be
Matilda The Musical Jr.

In addition to these annual shows we do a range of community performances including the OAP Christmas Dinner & Show, Alford Spectacular Extravaganza, The Lincolnshire Show and Alford Arts Festival to name just a few!

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to attend off site expressive arts trips for numerous different events. We are always looking for new exciting performances and events to take the students to. Below are just a few of our trips this year:

Annual Expressive Arts London Trip

A fantastic two day trip that incorporates site seeing and a show on the West End!

School of Rock: The Musical
Students had an amazing time rock out to School of Rock: The Musical in Lincoln this year - we run trips every year to see shows when opportunities arise!

Young Voices
The largest children's choir in the world! A great opportunity to perform on a huge scale at Sheffield Arena! We run this trip every year!
